As far above Sovereign armor as Sovereign is above Annihilator, Mythic’s Doomflayer sets will spawn an entirely new race of machines :o

Hoping to hit 85 over the holidays I have made a pact with myself to race to 90 as fast as I can once I am back home.  Now, to give you an idea of just how absurd the new armor is, I’d like to paint you a picture of what I will be doing with it; I currently have 4/5 Doomflayer and am halfway to earning the chest piece, as well as very close to buying my first of two rr90 scenario daggers.

My build will be 4 defensive Doomflayer, with the offensive Chest.  I will be using two 91 dps daggers.  I will be wearing 5 glyphs and a rr80 belt that has 2% crit on it.  Without a single point spent on Opportunist (the +crit RA) my base crit will be 24%.  My damage bonus will be nearly 300 +5% DPS.  My HP will be right around 10,000.  Armor will be 3500+ with an armor pot.  I will have a 10% chance on being hit to proc 1625 absorb, and a 10% chance on hit to proc a 723 lifetap, healing myself for 1085.  That means with a crit liniment and points spent in the RA I could put my base crit with a defensive build to 43%.

The most powerful DoK in my guild (and on our server) is about to hit rr90 and already has 5 Doomflayer and two rr90 swords… the difference in his power level is going to break the scale.  In fact I think many of us are wincing at the thought because I’d really rather not see this armor nerfed before I get there.  Mythic is stuck between a rock and a hard place- the only thing keeping veterans playing this game is the insanity of the promised upgrades at rr90 and rr100.  Yet the only thing keeping lowbies playing the game is the increased leveling speed and the promise that they will still be able to compete somehow with the big boys.  When the Doomflayer Titans begin roaming the earth that dynamic is going to make a U-turn.  Will low rank players continue to enjoy the game?  Or will the new Masters of Warhammer in their Doomflayer armor be able to farm 400% AAO like never before as groups of 2, 3, or even solo… thus catapulting them ever faster toward rr100 and true godhood.

I guess time will tell.  I am terribly excited about this new armor, but at the same time I have less and less of a clue what on earth keeps lower rank players playing…  I’d rather chew glass than reroll at this point, and the odds of me picking up my rr38 Blackguard again have never been slimmer.  So I guess there’s not much point to this post other than, when you see the first players in Doomflayer, and they destroy your 6-man with 80% hp left; don’t say I didn’t warn you.  The Doomflayer Titans are coming… and though I look forward to the carnage I can’t say I believe it’s good for the game… not unless Mythic has some SERIOUS content for “the rest of them” that we have yet to hear about.
